Wesley K. Duncan
Wes Duncan is a partner with Hutchison & Steffen in the Firm’s Administrative Law and Litigation practice groups.
After graduating law school, Wes answered the call to serve his country and entered the United States Air Force. As an active duty judge advocate, Wes deployed for six months to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and worked in the Iraqi court system where he assisted the Iraqis in prosecuting terror suspects and other extremist groups in Baghdad. During his time on active duty, Wes participated in 40 courts-martials and assisted hundreds of active duty personnel and retirees with their legal needs.
When his active duty commitment ended, Wes decided to make Nevada his home and contribute his passion for public service to the local community. While working in private practice, Wes was elected in 2012 to the State Assembly and served on the Judiciary, Education, Health and Human Services and Legislative Operations committees. He also served as a Clark County District Attorney and prosecuted felony-level crimes before numerous juries. In 2014, after being re-elected, Wes resigned his seat to serve the Nevada Attorney General’s Office as the First Assistant Attorney General. While First Assistant, Wes helped lead a 400-person office which provides a wide array of legal representation and counseling to State departments, agencies, boards, commissions, and officials. Wes also actively shaped statewide law enforcement and legal policy. He testified extensively before the legislature and other State boards and commissions.
Wes brings to the Firm and its clients outstanding credentials and a wealth of professional experience. He graduated from the University of California – Berkeley with an AB in Political Science and graduated from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law in 2006. He is licensed to practice law in Arizona and Nevada.
When he is not at work, Wes enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons, reading, working out, and staying involved in his local church. Wes continues to proudly wear the uniform of the United States Air Force in the rank of Major as the reserve Staff Judge Advocate to the 926 Wing at Nellis Air Force Base.
