Partner Mark Hutchison Named Mountain States Super Lawyer

LAS VEGAS – Hutchison & Steffen LLC announced today that partner Mark A. Hutchison has been named to the 2009 Mountain States Super Lawyers list. Hutchison is the senior member of the firm and also holds an AV-rating from Martindale-Hubbell®. He practices primarily in the areas of business and commercial litigation, tort litigation, medical malpractice, employment law, trust and probate litigation, and appellate litigation.
Hutchison is a native Las Vegan who graduated with honors from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He received his J.D. degree from Brigham Young University, where he served on the Law Review and was elected to Order of the Coif. After law school, Hutchison clerked for the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals in Chicago and then practiced at a national law firm in Chicago and Los Angeles. In Las Vegas, he has represented clients before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and is admitted to practice in both state and federal courts in Nevada and California, in federal courts in Arizona and Wyoming, and before the Seventh and Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. Supreme Court.
In 2004, Governor Kenny Guinn appointed Hutchison to the Ethics Commission for the State of Nevada. He was reappointed by Governor Jim Gibbons in 2008, and elected, by his fellow commissioners, to serve a term as chairperson. Hutchison continues to serve on the commission and, in 2005, was appointed by the Nevada Supreme Court to serve on the prestigious Bar-Bench Committee, which provides advice and recommendations to the court. Hutchison is also active in the community and has served on the board of Boy Scouts of America, Las Vegas Area Council, and as general counsel to the Desert Youth Football League and Silent Heroes of the Cold-War Memorial Committee.
