Biography
Z. Kathryn Branson is an associate of the Firm practicing primarily in business and commercial litigation, including, but not limited to, partnership/shareholder disputes and contract enforcement/defense.
Katy is a native Las Vegan, having attended The Meadows School and Las Vegas Academy, with a primary focus on piano. She attended Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington, and obtained a dual bachelor of arts degree in Economics and Foreign Languages and Literature: Spanish. She also studied abroad in Madrid, Spain, both during and after college, where she lived with Spanish-speaking-only families and studied economics at Universidad Carlos III, Getafe campus.
After graduating from Whitman, Katy returned to Las Vegas and worked at a prestigious local law firm. She then attended William S. Boyd School of Law at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. While in law school, Katy externed for the Honorable Judge Elizabeth Gonzalez, Presiding Civil Judge and business court judge in the Eighth Judicial District Court in Clark County, Nevada. She received a CALI (highest grade) in her Professional Responsibility/Ethics course, and was a member of the Society of Advocates’ Negotiation team, traveling to San Diego to compete on behalf of Boyd.
Upon graduating from law school and sitting for the Nevada Bar, Katy returned to the courthouse to serve as a law clerk for the Honorable Judge Elizabeth Gonzalez, where she gained valuable experience and knowledge of various aspects of business and commercial litigation, civil litigation, and civil procedure. Katy joined Hutchison & Steffen immediately after completion of her one-year clerkship.
Personal Background
When Katy is not working for the Firm, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Michael, and their dog Wrigley. She also loves traveling, reading, playing the piano, and attending (or participating in) local community theater productions.
