Biography
Deidre J. Call is the head of the Firm's Real Estate and Business Transactions department. She has more than 15 years of experience in negotiating and documenting transactions of all kinds, involving contracts, business law, corporate law, real property, leasing, CC&Rs, HOA's, municipal law, construction law, financing, loan workouts, medical and dental practices, small businesses, entertainment law, intellectual property, title insurance and other matters.
Deidre grew up in Idaho and Utah, and moved to Nevada in 1996 after receiving her Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from Duke University School of Law. Prior to law school, Deidre graduated with a B.A. from Brigham Young University, Cum Laude, with University Honors, and a double major in Spanish and International Relations. Her undergraduate thesis concerned female characters in the works of Gabriel García Márquez. She is admitted to practice law in Nevada and speaks Spanish as a second language.
During her first five years as a transactional lawyer, Deidre worked for Lionel Sawyer & Collins, the largest law firm in Nevada at that time, representing local, regional and national clients in a wide spectrum of real estate and commercial transactions--from smaller deals to complex multi-million dollar transactions. She then spent three years as a Deputy City Attorney for the City of North Las Vegas in the civil division, representing the City Council, Planning Commission, and city departments with respect to development issues, contracts, land use, business licensing and other municipal matters. After leaving the City, Deidre continued to practice real estate, business and commercial transactions law at established Nevada law firms, including Peel Brimley and Bailey Kennedy, before joining Hutchison & Steffen in 2008. She also served as an adjunct professor at the University of Phoenix for six years, teaching courses in law, ethics, and history.
Deidre practices real estate law, representing owners, developers, lenders, borrowers, investors, buyers, sellers, brokers, agents, landlords, tenants, billboard owners, contractors, subcontractors, architects, engineers, and others, in transactions involving the purchase, sale, development, financing, leasing, and construction of residential and commercial real property.
Deidre also practices corporate law, guiding clients through the formation, structuring, management, and dissolution of corporations, limited liability companies, nonprofit corporations, partnerships, homeowners associations, and joint ventures. She serves as legal counsel to both “start-up” companies and established businesses, including many medical and dental practices. In addition, Deidre represents buyers and sellers in the purchase and sale of businesses.
In her spare time, Deidre enjoys spending time with her husband, Michael, a banker, and their five children. She loves camping, traveling, cooking, entertaining, reading suspense novels, attending theater performances, supporting her children in their school and extracurricular activities, and serving in her church and community.
